elonies are crimes that are punishable from a year in the Illinois Department of Corrections up to and including a life sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections.  Defendants convicted of murder can also be sentenced to the death penalty.  On certain felony charges a defendant can be sentenced to a term of probation as an alternative to jail time.  For first offenders in drug crimes, 410 probation is a possibility.  This special type of probation can be expunged from the defendant’s record if he/she successfully completes the probation requirements.  In certain rare circumstances a felony can be reduced to a misdemeanor and sentenced accordingly.

At The Law Offices of Howard J. Wise & Associates, we provide expert criminal defense for individuals who have been arrested and accused of all types of felonies.  Our experienced criminal defense attorneys are driven to aggressively defend the rights of clients in all Illinois criminal courts. Our Firm consists of former criminal prosecutors who have handled thousands of felony cases throughout their careers. We appear regularly in all the Cook County courtrooms as well as courtrooms in other surrounding areas such as DuPage, Lake, Kane and Will Counties.
